Fuel Cell Systems Supports Major Hydrogen Showcase at the Port of Tilbury
We took part in a major hydrogen showcase at the Port of Tilbury on 30 April 2026, supporting the demonstration of practical hydrogen technologies for industrial and infrastructure applications.
The event, hosted by the Port of Tilbury, Toyota and GeoPura at the London International Cruise Terminal, brought together more than 100 delegates from across the hydrogen sector, including technology providers, project stakeholders and policymakers. The visit of Energy Observer, the world’s first self-sufficient hydrogen-powered vessel, highlighted the growing global focus on hydrogen as a clean energy solution.
Hydrogen refuelling infrastructure in action
Our CEO, Lee Juby, and Hydrogen Business Development Manager, Joe Anderson, were both in attendance. We supplied our HyQube hydrogen refuelling system for the event, which combines both compressing and dispensing technology. The system enabled continuous refuelling of hydrogen-powered vehicles and equipment throughout the day, supporting live operational demonstrations.
Hydrogen refuelling infrastructure is a key requirement for scaling hydrogen adoption. Reliable, safe and efficient systems are essential to connect hydrogen production with real-world applications across sectors such as construction, transport and off-grid power.
Collaboration across the hydrogen value chain
The showcase brought together organisations from across the hydrogen supply chain, including the Lower Thames Crossing project, Briggs Equipment UK, ULEMCO, TCP, Intelligent Energy and HYKIT. The focus was on demonstrating technologies that are already being deployed, rather than future concepts.
By aligning hydrogen production, storage, refuelling and end-use technologies, collaborative projects such as this are helping accelerate decarbonisation across industry.
Port of Tilbury developing hydrogen capability
The Port of Tilbury is developing its role as a hydrogen hub, with plans to support commercial-scale green hydrogen production for industrial use. This development supports wider efforts to reduce emissions in port operations and heavy industry.
David Housden and Andy Darlington from the Port of Tilbury said:
“The Port of Tilbury is the UK’s first port to host commercial scale green hydrogen production for industrial use. The showcase event held today demonstrates how through committed partnership, innovative solutions can be delivered to decarbonise operations in ports and beyond.”
Supporting decarbonisation through hydrogen
The event demonstrated how hydrogen technologies can be deployed in operational environments today. From refuelling infrastructure to hydrogen-powered equipment, the showcase provided a clear example of how hydrogen can support the transition away from fossil fuels.
We are supporting the growth of hydrogen transport infrastructure across the UK, helping operators move from ambition to implementation with proven refuelling solutions.
