About Fuel Cell Systems Ltd
About Us
Fuel Cell Systems Ltd. (FCSL) registered as a company in 2010, initially focused on fuel cell technologies for off-grid power requirements.
We partnered with industry leaders SFC Energy, becoming the UK’s sole supplier for EFOY direct methanol fuel cells and we are now one of the top three biggest distributors of SFC products in the world.
By 2015, we identified a significant gap in the market for hydrogen refuelling infrastructure for transport. In response, we began developing a range of hydrogen refuelling solutions to meet this growing need.
In September 2022, Hydrasun acquired a 52% stake in FCSL, marking a major milestone in our growth. This strategic investment accelerated our product development and R&D efforts, enabled us to expand our team, and strengthened our capabilities across the board. As a result, FCSL became part of the D2Zero Group, aligning us with a broader mission to drive net-zero solutions.
At FCSL, we believe the ability to dispense hydrogen must support vehicle development, enabling widespread adoption. Our refuelling stations are designed to mirror the experience of conventional fuel stations, making hydrogen accessible and practical for users. We focus on efficiency, safety, and scalability, with a commitment to supporting the growth of hydrogen mobility infrastructure in the UK and beyond.
D2Zero brings together six established companies with deep expertise in critical energy infrastructure. Each contributes unique technologies to help optimise and decarbonise traditional energy systems while supporting the growth of emerging and renewable sources. Backed by SCF Partners, D2Zero is built to meet the challenges of today’s energy transition with proven solutions and a shared commitment to a lower-carbon future.
Headquartered in Aberdeen in the North-East of Scotland, Hydrasun is a recognised market leader in the provision of integrated fluid transfer, power and control solutions.
As part of D2Zero, Hydrasun applies experience, knowledge, and insights for a new energy future.
Hydrasun are committed to developing its Hydrogen Supply Chain Capability to support the growth of the UK and EU hydrogen economies.
SFC Energy AG is a leading provider of hydrogen and direct methanol fuel cells for stationary, portable and mobile hybrid power solutions.
The company distributes its award-winning products worldwide and has sold more than 75,000 fuel cells to date.
The energy solutions of the SFC Energy Group are used all over the world, from Singapore to Antarctica, with their head office in Germany.
They have recently opened a new site in Swindon UK to help increase production and support the recycling and repairing of fuel cells.
