Fuel Cells

We supply fuel cell solutions to suit the power requirements for a range of applications, particularly where off-grid power is needed and solar or mains supply isn’t reliable or available. Our systems are deployed across diverse sectors, including security and surveillance (CCTV, ANPR), environmental and wildlife monitoring, traffic infrastructure, and recreational applications like motorhomes and sailing yachts.

Our EFOY direct methanol fuel cells are eco-friendly. They convert methanol into clean, quiet electricity, reliably charging your battery, reducing the need for site visits and human intervention.

Hydrogen Refuelling

Beyond fuel cells, we design and deliver hydrogen refuelling solutions to support the growing hydrogen mobility sector. We manufacture full hydrogen refuelling systems for the mobility sector, including compression, high pressure storage and dispensing. We can provide on-site hydrogen production via electrolysers, as well as tube trailer refilling, delivering a complete refuelling station solution tailored to your specific needs.

We have successfully implemented hydrogen solutions across a wide range of transport modes, including planes, trains, cars, vans, forklifts, boats, and buses. Committed to enabling the widespread adoption of hydrogen fuel, our technology supports fleets of all sizes.

Our History

Fuel Cell Systems Ltd. (FCSL) registered as a company in 2010, initially focused on fuel cell technologies for off-grid power requirements.

We partnered with industry leaders SFC Energy, becoming the UK’s sole supplier for EFOY direct methanol fuel cells and we are now one of the top three biggest distributors of SFC products in the world.

By 2015, we identified a significant gap in the market for hydrogen refuelling infrastructure for transport. In response, we began developing a range of hydrogen refuelling solutions to meet this growing need.

In September 2022, Hydrasun acquired a 52% stake in FCSL, marking a major milestone in our growth. This strategic investment accelerated our product development and R&D efforts, enabled us to expand our team, and strengthened our capabilities across the board. As a result, FCSL became part of the D2Zero Group, aligning us with a broader mission to drive net-zero solutions.

At FCSL, we believe the ability to dispense hydrogen must support vehicle development, enabling widespread adoption. Our refuelling stations are designed to mirror the experience of conventional fuel stations, making hydrogen accessible and practical for users. We focus on efficiency, safety, and scalability, with a commitment to supporting the growth of hydrogen mobility infrastructure in the UK and beyond.
