Fuel Cell Maintenance: Keeping your energy source thriving all year round.
Perhaps you use your EFOY fuel cell on its own or alongside a solar panel. Either way, as winter approaches, it is more important than ever to keep fuel connected to your fuel cell.
🔋Fuel up with care: Ensure your fuel cartridges are within their use-by date. A fuel cartridge's use-by date is 3 years from when it was bottled. This date can be found on the cartridge. Out of date cartridges can start to contain impurities which will damage the stack of the fuel cell.
📞Plan ahead: Where possible, contact Fuel Cell Systems well in advance, before your fuel runs out, to order more.
❄️Freeze protection: The fuel cell contains deionised water inside the system. If the ambient temperature drops below 0°C, the fuel cell will go into Freeze Protection Mode to stop the deionised water from freezing. In order to do this, the fuel cell must be connected to in-date fuel as well as to a healthy battery.
❄️Winter storage: If you are not using your fuel cell over winter, make sure the fuel cell is shut down and disconnected from the fuel cartridge and battery. Store it in a dry place above 0°C. This will save fuel and ensure that your fuel cell is protected.
🌞Not used your fuel cell in 5 months? If your solar panels have been working nicely over summer and your fuel cell has been in standby all this time, manually put the fuel cell into Charge Mode to run a power cycle to check the system is OK.
