Their systems include traffic warning signage, designed to secure site entrances and manage traffic flow. These systems must be rapidly deployable, mobile, and independent of the power grid due to the unpredictable nature and varying durations of construction projects.
The Challenge
The increasing complexity of display and traffic data capture systems demands a reliable power supply. During extended periods of poor lighting, solar power alone is insufficient, requiring frequent battery replacements. This not only increases operational costs but also risks system downtime. To ensure uninterrupted operation and reduce maintenance, Green Way Systems needed a more dependable and low-maintenance energy solution.
The Solution
The company integrated the EFOY Pro 1800 fuel cells into their systems. These fuel cells complement existing solar and battery setups, providing a hybrid solution that ensures continuous power. The EFOY Pro units are housed in vandalism-resistant cabinets and are permanently connected to the system infrastructure.
Result
The integration of EFOY Pro fuel cells has significantly improved system reliability across all weather conditions, including winter and shaded locations. This has led to substantial cost savings by reducing the need for battery replacement services and enhancing overall traffic safety. The fuel cells have proven to be a robust, low-maintenance solution that supports uninterrupted operation.

How it Works
The EFOY continuously monitors the battery voltage, automatically turning on and off to charge the batteries. It effectively acts as a ‘battery charger ’ ensuring that the batteries are kept within the optimal voltage range. Compared to an internal combustion generator, the EFOY fuel cell has few moving parts providing higher levels of reliability and reduced noise levels. The only emissions it produces are tiny amount of carbon dioxide and water.
