Mobile Camera Station for Different Scenarios

Funkwerk

The organisation operates mobile camera stations designed for flexible deployment in areas with limited or no infrastructure. These stations are used for temporary surveillance at construction sites, remote areas, and public events such as Christmas markets and concerts.

The Challenge

Deploying surveillance in locations without reliable infrastructure presents a major challenge. Many sites lack permanent power sources, and even when temporary power is available, such as through diesel generators or construction site connections, there ’ s a risk of accidental disconnection or fuel depletion. Ensuring uninterrupted operation is essential for both public safety and effective crime prevention. The goal was to maintain a stable, autonomous power supply while keeping investment and operational costs low.

The Solution

To address these challenges, each mobile camera station was equipped with an EFOY Pro Duo 2400 fuel cell (equivalent to the latest EFOY Pro 1800 model). The fuel cell acts as a core power unit, charging buffer batteries and maintaining system uptime when other sources fail. Depending on the deployment, the fuel cell is used alone or in combination with other available sources such as grid power or solar panels. This hybrid approach allows for maximum flexibility and reliability, tailored to each customer ’ s needs.

Result

The integration of the EFOY Pro fuel cell has enabled fully autonomous operation of mobile camera stations across a wide range of environments. Whether used for a few days or several months, the stations now offer consistent surveillance without the noise, emissions, or maintenance issues associated with traditional generators. This has improved both the effectiveness of monitoring and the public ’ s perception of safety at events and construction sites. The system ’ s adaptability also allows for efficient energy use and reduced operational risk.

“We were persuaded by the simple and professional unit in the various application scenarios where environmental factors such as temperature, noise and exhaust gas behaviour are relevant. ”

Norbert Meißner, Managing Director, Funkwerk video systeme GmbH

How it Works

The EFOY continuously monitors the battery voltage, automatically turning on and off to charge the batteries. It effectively acts as a ‘battery charger ’ ensuring that the batteries are kept within the optimal voltage range. Compared to an internal combustion generator, the EFOY fuel cell has few moving parts providing higher levels of reliability and reduced noise levels. The only emissions it produces are tiny amount of carbon dioxide and water.

SFC Energy

FCSL is the preferred partner and sole distributor of the EFOY range of fuel cells in the UK. We have worked in partnership with SFC Energy for over a decade supplying, integrating and supporting the delivery of their market leading fuel cell systems.
