Off-grid Power Setup in Colder Months

As autumn settles in and the days grow shorter, it’s a good time to check your off-grid power setup and make sure it’s ready for the colder months ahead. When sunlight is weaker and the sun sits lower in the sky, solar-powered systems can start to struggle. Even small amounts of shading from fences, trees, or nearby structures can cause a big drop in solar output.

With an integrated system, your fuel cell will automatically take over when solar input is insufficient, maintaining uninterrupted operation regardless of weather or season.

To keep things running smoothly, it’s important to plan ahead for your methanol supply. We always recommend keeping plenty of methanol in stock, particularly through the winter months when the fuel cell is heavily relied upon. Having a good reserve means your systems stay powered without interruption, no matter the weather conditions.

A quick inspection of your solar panels for shading and an early check of your methanol stock can go a long way towards preventing unexpected power issues and will ensure your systems keep performing reliably throughout the darker months.
